Passing of FACP’s Co-Founder, Mr. Hsu Po-Yun, on September 4th, 2023

It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Hsu Po-Yun, the co-founder of FACP, on September 4, 2023. Mr. Hsu Po-Yun was an exceptionally free-spirited individual with an unwavering passion for the arts, culture, and the global community. He led a remarkable life characterized by a rich tapestry of experiences. He was a distinctive composer, a self-made entrepreneur, a pioneer in international engagement, and a dedicated trailblazer in the advancement of performing arts and cultural landscapes throughout Asia and the world. He served as an inspiration to countless generations of art enthusiasts.

During a time when the performing arts industry operated independently among nations, Mr. Hsu Po-Yun, along with the late co-founder Dr. Lucrecia R. Kasilag, founded the Federation for Asian Cultural Promotion (FACP) to promote cultural exchange and international dialogues in the arts. Mr. Hsu, as the inaugural Secretary-General of FACP, was a man of action. Over the past 43 years, under Mr. Hsu's dynamic leadership, FACP has evolved into the most significant artistic alliance in Asia, comprising members from the most prestigious artistic institutions and cultural capitals in the region and beyond, thus creating an unprecedented and vibrant network. Alongside Mr. Hsu, FACP has nurtured thriving artistic communities in Manila, Taipei, Tokyo, Seoul, Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Macau, and Singapore. It was Mr. Hsu's vision that united arts professionals across Asia in a spirit of cooperation and consolidation. Mr. Hsu Po-Yun was the epitome of unconditional love and dedication. He never spoke of retirement – despite bearing numerous responsibilities, he remained our most steadfast friend, consistently offering warm encouragement and tangible support throughout the development of FACP.

The FACP community stands in solidarity with Mr. Hsu's family and friends and extends our deepest condolences. We believe that our co-founders, who were cherished friends and collaborative artistic partners, have now reunited in the great beyond. We are committed to carrying forward their spirit and continuing to illuminate the global realm of arts for generations to come.
